Imouzzer cinema meetings experienced periods of uncertainty, turbulence and doubt about the possibility of lasting in time. The experiment conducted jointly by each other has to take the helm, despite the turbulence, hazards and constraints. In any case, the Imouzzer Peoples’Film Festival   increased significantly and is moving in the right direction. It fought hard to get to and continue to emerge as unavoidable and media activity in the field of film activities at the regional and national levels.  The publication of the proceedings each year following each seminar demonstrates the relevance of the topics chosen and the quality of the speakers. Reflections have focused in recent years on succession issues to writing, singing heritage, the image of marginality in Moroccan cinema, criticism, identity and otherness in the Maghrebi Cinema. This year, the seminarians will have to decide on matters relating to aesthetics and ideology in the Maghrebi Cinema. This is certainly a challenge, but I’m confident because the tenacity of the leading members of Imouzzer Ciné Club’s commitment core implemented with fidelity is exemplary perseverance and especially our friend Hamid Tbatou that is  the leader of this continuous reflection, all of which will compete with the success of this edition. It is certain that in 2010, the Festival has confirmed its seat and consolidated its bases. The content of the event, the participants and the abnegation of government’s involvement in this cultural business certainly strengthen  Peoples’ film festival in Imouzzer  so that they can participate in the radiation of the city and spread film culture.

Teacher of the history of cinema

The Imouzzer Peoples’ Film Festival  , which this year celebrates its ninth edition, is distinguished from other Moroccan film festivals more than a title.

It is the only festival in Morocco that highlights so boldly activist dimension of intercultural, multicultural and transcultural in promoting the meeting, the blending and the osmosis of world audiovisual cultures.

By playing the card of cultural diversity whose unity is provided by the art of film, the festival also presents as a true reflection and a natural extension of a deeply Moroccan reality: the eternal cultural mosaic of Morocco.

It is therefore not surprising that films from different backgrounds come together, interact, flirt in Imouzzer, creating many fruitful  as well as tasty discussions. The taste is still another source of delight and joy!

The selection of topics for various conferences (cultural identity, ideology and aesthetic, otherness, marginality …) provides a high bill at the festival.

This is probably the Moroccan artistic event that consistently and seriously   focuses on substantive issues based on cinematic facts and artistic data. Publications that follow regularly demonstrate a tenacious and lucid will to reveal the underground links that connect cinema to the great  aesthetic, philosophical, sociological… anthropological questions

Elitist? Yes, the festival is, but without denying its popular roots nor its democratic ambitions. A festival which, despite its modest means, seeks to promote culture for all, to reduce truly the gap between high culture and popular culture and is committed to a noble cause: the fight for greater visibility of the invisible people!

Teaching? Yes, the festival is in the soul and in the body! You cannot raise the public taste without trying to really soak films and debates whose primary concern should not be confused in any way with the box office obsession or the ephemeral stardom.

The cinema is now the best way for the education of the people and for the formation of the citizen.

It would be a terrible waste if the movie was nothing more than mere entertainment for helots without noble aims, without humanistic perspectives that make us better and better and  increasingly away from mediocrity and stupidity

The Imouzzer festival has  this feature to make us travel through images and sound in the upper reaches of the intelligence of  the meeting and discovery. Cinema of the People! Cinema of life! Cinema of dignity! Cinema of solidarity! Cinema of hope!

It is an honor for me to attend the eighth edition of the Peoples’ Film Festival in  Imouzzer Kandar and see my film “The Mosque” programmed during the opening ceremony.

For me the city Imouzzer Kandar and the Middle Atlas, in general, is a touristic and cinematographic area of excellence. I hope it will win its share of film projects and experience a renaissance as is the case of Ouarzazate.

The  Imouzzer film meeting is a meeting for all Imouzzierriens. Since 2004 it has been gradually emerging through the commendable efforts of the organizers. In 2004, I participated in the first meeting, there was nothing in the building except for a few birds flying over our heads. Now by  the promoters’ tenacity of  this event, the result is amazing with your numerous presence . I reiterate my congratulations to the organizers, local and regional authorities, elected officials and the public  present now.

Imouzzer film meeting is an opportunity to meet artists and more it is a professional forum for cultural exchange. Personally I grasped the meaning of professionalism at the organizational level and the programming in general.

I’m just wondering why the organizers they attach to the name meeting instead of  Festival  despite that this meeting could rise to a level more than a few film festivals nationwide.

The proof is  the attendance by a massive audience to all the activities of the 6th edition. The presence of the governor Mr. Abdeslam Zougar , artists , local and regional media is an effective support to the festival.

Frankly, we can describe people’s Film festival as a qualitative addition to The city of Imouzzer.

The festival is from my point of view, consciousness and the proof of the love of cinema. This is the kind of event that effectively contributes to the promotion of the 7th art. It is in any case, the only solution until better days.

Competitions take place in the framework of paramount importance since they allow young talent to perform and showcase their works.

The Peoples’ Film Festival  is a unique cultural project that has established itself as an innovative event in the Maghreb and the cinematic landscape with the sincere involvement of actors who were at the origin of this cultural event of great importance.

By its quality and its openness to the world cinema, the festival has allowed me to meet the creators of high contributing efficiently and spontaneity and dedication to the development of film and image.

This festival is, in my view, an event which refers to the view of the high quality of its conferences and publications. This is an event that is expected impatiently whose  arms open in all generosity to the peoples of the world, their cinema, their nagging questions …
